What is kernel panic?
When booting, the system may have a kernel panic, and there are a few common reasons.

If you see something like this on your screen:



... then your system has a kernel panic! Normally, there are two reasons for a kernel panic. The most likely is some hardware error - defective hardware, bad wiring, loose connections. The other could be that you are running a too-old image without the support of the newer GPUs - for example, you will get kernel panic if you try to run the Nvidia 460.39 driver that unlocks more performance on the NVIDIA RTX 3060 - but does have the NVIDIA RTX 3060 LHR v2!
